Nonsense. Ron Paul's Sep 10 press conference generated 607 stories in the Google News search results. Yesterday's endorsement news has only generated 14 stories, most of them from blogs. Barr's ballot access suit in Texas has generated 295 stores in the last 24 hours. Barr continues to garner at least an order of magnitude more free media than the 2004 Badnarik campaign. Badnarik is several times better than Barr at presenting libertarian ideas, but he's not an order of magnitude better. Barr's campaign still has a good shot at getting the highest vote total in LP history.
Paul was never going to mobilize his followers for the LP's presidential ticket (no matter who we nominated), and I predict Paul's endorsement of Baldwin won't mobilize much new support for him either. Ron Paul and Bob Barr are professional politicians, and each is instinctively unwilling to deflect his share of the spotlight to the other, even when that's in the best interests of the freedom movement.
